Moritz Konz is a dedicated seafood sustainability expert from Germany, born in 1989, with an academic foundation in seafood. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Bonn and a Master’s degree in Aquaculture and Sea-ranching from the University of Rostock. With approximately 10 years of experience in the seafood industry, Moritz has worked as an auditor for sustainable seafood standards including MSC, ASC Chain of Custody (COC), Organic, including Naturland, and private standards.
His career includes nonprofit work focused on sustainable development in aquaculture as well as corporate responsibility roles within retail, initially at LIDL and currently at ALDI South since January 2022. At ALDI, Moritz serves as Corporate Responsibility Manager for Responsible Seafood, overseeing sustainability initiatives across all 11 ALDI countries. He manages human rights, environmental topics, stakeholder engagement including advocacy, responsible procurement, buying consultation, policy, and due diligence for globally sourced seafood. Moritz combines his personal passion for the sea and fish with his professional career to promote sustainable seafood practices.
