Introducing Certified Seafood International
We’re proud to offer a new choice in the certification of wild-capture seafood. Certified Seafood International (CSI) provides a credible, cost-effective, and transparent wild-capture certification alternative with global reach. CSI assesses environmentally responsible fishery management using a rigorous standard grounded in internationally recognized UN FAO guidelines. Our certification includes a robust Chain of Custody with the ability to identify harvest origin on the ecolabel.
Why CSI? We’re Focused on What Matters
Credibility You Can Trust
CSI is benchmarked by the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) and built on the internationally recognized guidance of the United Nations FAO. That means CSI certified seafood meets the gold standard — independently verified for environmental responsibility.
Cost-Efficient Without Compromise
We believe certification shouldn’t come with a heavy financial burden. CSI delivers rigorous third-party assurance at lower cost, thanks to a clear standard and streamlined operations. You get value for money—without cutting corners.
Clear Harvest Origin Labeling
We help tell the story of seafood. CSI’s ecolabel offers the option to include harvest origin, building trust and adding premium value. Our online platform provides transparency for certified fisheries, more meaningfully connecting buyers and sellers.
A Catalyst for Continuous Improvement
CSI helps good fisheries become great. By offering a stable, internationally recognized standard, we provide a clear path for fisheries seeking to achieve certification, helping to raise the bar industry-wide.
Global Reach
Launched in April 2025, CSI already includes 10 certified fisheries landing 3 million metric tonnes, thanks to the successful integration of the Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) program. Our global governing board includes representatives from Canada, the Caribbean, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United States. More fisheries globally are preparing to certify, with strong demand across the supply chain.
