Akiyo Matono dedicated over four decades to the Nissui Group, building an extensive career in the global seafood industry. From 2007 to 2011, he served as President of Nippon Suisan (U.S.A.), Inc. Upon his return to Japan, he held a series of senior leadership roles at Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. – now known as Nissui Corporation: Executive Officer (2011–2012), Executive Director & Managing Executive Officer (2012–2017), and Executive Director & Senior Managing Executive Officer (2017–2018). He was appointed President and CEO in 2018, a position he held until 2021, during which he actively advanced initiatives for the sustainable utilization of marine resources.
Mr. Matono is a graduate of Keio University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Commerce. He concluded his tenure with Nissui Corporation as Executive Advisor, stepping down from the role in June 2024.
